Post-ish

This is a test-ish entry about how wheel-ish putting "-ish" behind nouns or verbs to make them into adjectives is. Already to me this seems stone-ish and an atom-ish cannot-be-done-ish thing to do.

WTH. Why am I even doing this? This is Terry Fox-ish.

Highlight here for explanations.

test-ish: this is self explanatory
wheel-ish: usable; good
stone-ish: hard
an atom-ish cannot-be-done-ish thing: a little impossible thing
Terry Fox-ish: Terry Fox was lame. No disrespect meant, just needed a sufficiently famous and lame person.

WAAAHHHHHHH!!!

Just a while ago I was thinking about why the hell I'm so bored these days. Then I figured this was probably because I had a few school projects to complete (ie. things to actually DO). Instead of becoming less bored due to the fact that I had things to do, I don't feel like doing those things and therefore actively seek for other things to do. I can't find that many things to do, and normally I wouldn't care, but because I'm doing this to keep away from the projects, I keep looking. Looking for something to do is incredibly boring, especially little things that are not supposed to take up much time, just keep me away from my projects until I feel like doing them, so I'm not looking for fruitful activities, but rather for time-wasters.

I think I might pick up a language at the end of the semester. I'm thinking French. Hmm... I'm so screwed up.

Because I'm bored... and because I wrote this in my project report

hey it rhymes...

I'm guessing my project supervisor will probably get me to remove this part from my report. Since I don't feel like doing anything else...
Below is a list of variations of the word “blog” ranging from the somewhat realistic to the downright ridiculous. I expect some of these words to become commonly used in the future:
•Celebrog – A blog created in conjunction with or as a celebration.
•Cereblog – Frequent updating of an individual’s mind, referring to the everyday process of learning or thinking. May also refer to a blog updated by telepathy or mind-control, and the act of updating such a blog.
•Corplog – A corporate blog.
•Phoneblog – Similar to audioblog, a blog made up of audio recordings. Otherwise, a blog updated by the use of a telephone, or the act of updating such a blog.
•Shoutblog – A blog in which every letter is capitalised, making it seem as if the author is constantly speaking loudly. Otherwise, a blog updated in some way related to shouting, and the act of updating such a blog. The term “shoutblogging” may be shortened into the word “shouting”.

I BLOG!

Tis' been a rather hectic week. Just last week I was informed that I had to hand in my Independent Study Project next week. Before that I 've written close to nothing for the project except the links to related resources and I've only thought a little about what I wanted in the project report. This means that I've got to write 8000-10000 words in 2 weeks :D. As of now I've only written 1000+ words for my report. I chose the Independent Study Project (an elective) partly because it gave me more creative space to work independently. The main reason, however, was because doing it solo gave me more time to slack. HA! I seriously need to slack less :).

Also, they're taking the Hobbits to Isengard.

National Day Message

I saw the repeat of the National Day message by the PM today and there was one thing that I found rather amusing. I noticed that there were subtitles as he was giving the message and I could imagine in my head something like this:

PM Lee: "W...what do I need subtitles for?? I speak perfect English!"

Also, yesterday I saw the message delivered in Mandarin by Wong Kan Seng. The only thing I actually found partially interesting about that was the zooming of the camera, which kept going in and out for no apparent reason. Perhaps the cameraman too was bored by the message. I suspect the Minister could have been more interesting in his delivery of the message, but to me it didn't seem like he was putting much effort into that. The result was that I, and I suspect quite a handful of other viewers, did not know what he was talking about at all.

I just read that the English message was subtitled for the hearing-impaired. That still doesn't make it any less amusing to me though :).

EDIT: Happy National Day BTW :)

Stuff to be done part two

Part one can be found by scrolling down or clicking here.

Below is a list of things I would like to do in this lifetime. Things I think would just be cool to do and would make me feel just that little bit better afterwards; things I might curse myself for not doing when I die but I probably won't; things that I would do if convenient but I won't really be striving towards.

Nice-to-do list:
- Kick/ram/headbutt/bite down a door
- Wrestle a bear and/or big cat
- Meet Lindsay Lohan
- Meet Michael Jackson
- Meet an alien
- Look for Santa Claus
- Visit the Himalayas
- Visit Mars
- Read the Arabic Koran
- Make one of those speeches that are mentioned in history textbooks and documentaries (eg. "I have a dream" [Martin Luther King, Jr.], "Merdeka! Yay!" [Lee Kuan Yew])
- Build a wonder of the world
- Learn magic. Performance magic, not magic like faerie fire or chain lightning, although that kind would be nice to learn too.
- Discover a unified theory of physics

So that's the list, or at least the part of it that I can think of at the moment. That's seems like quite a lot of stuff to do. I wonder why I'm still so bored all the time with all those things to do.

Stuff to be done

Below I came up with a list of stuff I have to do in this lifetime. (Actually as I write this I have not written the list but then by the time this is posted it would have been.)

This is not a list of my greater life goals, which I claim to my friends are inconceivable but I actually just do not wish to reveal. This is a list of things that if I do not do by the time I die, would probably cause my ghost to cry every night for the rest of eternity and spook the shit out of sissy boys and girls.

And now, the list:
- Get a good wife
- Have sex (EDIT: Not that sex is necessary for a wife to be "good" but who wants to die a virgin?)

Eh... who knew my list of have-to-dos was so short? I'm easily contented I guess.

Tomorrow or later today I will post a list of nice-to-dos that will almost certainly be longer but still will not include my life goals. :)

A simplistic English composition

Yesterday I thought of writing an English compo as if I was in primary school. I shall refer to my self from primary school as Kiwi. You may download the final result here.

An Angry Man

Trying to write as Kiwi would write was very easy of course, but it made me think a little about the way Kiwi thought and the way he wrote. Particularly, Kiwi would put a full stop before and after the final inverted comma in a sentence when it was quoting a sentence. He was taught to do so by an English teacher either in P2 or P3.

"He did it like so.".

"I now do it like so."

"I'm not really sure, but sometimes I may do it as so".

I am quite sure at least a couple of Kiwi's English compos started with "it was a bright and sunny day" and that many of the stories happened on his way home from school.

I suspect this pattern is because Kiwi rather lacked a life but I would prefer to think that this was the way with most primary school students and that Kiwi in fact had more of a life than I do :(.

Here is the compo if you do not wish to/are unable to download the Word document.
It was a bright and sunny day. I was very happy that day because I had just got back my exam results and they were good. I was hopping happily on my way home when I saw a car stopped at the side of the road. A man was standing beside the car looking very unhappy.

I walked to the man and asked him what was wrong. “Go away,” he said, “leave me alone.”. I quickly walked away because the man sounded very angry and I felt I should leave him alone. After walking a short distance, I heard a loud noise coming from behind and I turned to look. I saw the man running around his car shouting loudly at other people. I quickly ran home because he looked really angry.

When I reached home, I told my mother about the man and she said she saw the man on the news. He had punched a few people who wanted to help him and he was caught by the police. I was lucky he did not hit me.

Holy shit was that short or what? The rest of this blog entry is probably longer than the whole compo from what I'm seeing in the preview. Then again, I didn't claim this was a secondary school compo, yes?
